Coldframes have a protective use in all seasons. They are excellent in SPRING for hardening off plants and seedlings, and in SUMMER for protecting tender plants such as salad leaves from weather and pets. They also provide protection for new cuttings. In AUTUMN and WINTER they provide protections for semi-hardy perennials, as well as allowing some crop seasons to be extended right into winter.
